This past weekend it was back again to the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Downtown LA’s Arts District for a rocking good engagement photography session.  It was a lot of fun hanging out with Evelyn and Barney - these two are really cool.  They used to live in a loft in the Arts District and they regaled me the entire time with awesome stories of Downtown LA living.  Hah, I was well entertained and fascinated - what could be better than stories about industrial living, local bars and neighborhood bums.

We started off with some classic shots at the Walt Disney Concert Hall before heading down to the Arts District.  The Arts District is a refreshing place to shoot engagement photos!  It was a lot of fun walking around with Evelyn & Barney, checking out the urban landscape and seeing who was putting in work on the walls.  We got to talking about the local artists and even shared some opinions on the neighborhood restaurants like Wurstkuche and Blue Dahlia.  It was an all-around good time.

Onto the Arts District and loads and loads of graffiti, graffiti, graffiti!

Here’s the fun couple in front of some street art.  I spot some JR (one of my favorite urban street photographers) wheatpasting up in that collage!  His work is awesome, check it out if you have not seen it before!

The Arts District was a lot of fun but the night came too quickly.  Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and call it a day.  I had a lot of fun and I can’t wait for the wedding!

Good’ol sunshined Sundays in downtown LA are so relaxing! With its classic architectural charm and sprawling character, what’s not to like?! I think Amy & Julius would be quick to agree, as they both initially met each other downtown and still find themselves spending an a lot of time here. Downtown Los Angeles has a certain sweet allure.

Lucky for us, the shoot happened to be the day before the LA Marathon. It was great because that meant we could wander about closed-off streets and even better there were no crowds! Hah, at one point we contemplated taking pictures pretending to cross the marathon finish line. These two are a too cute! As we spent the afternoon together, I learned that Amy is a lawyer (which means I now have access to a get out of jail for free card) and Julius works for Family Guy (even better…access to cult classic paraphernalia). What stellar people to know!! Congratulations to both of you, a job well done! I’m sure you two will have a beautiful life together.

Audrey and Eric win for being the first couple this year to travel from out-of-state for an e-session.  And….drumroll….please…ddaada-dum-dah…they came all the way from Portland, Oregon!  They seemingly left behind that cold Northern Coast weather and brought their warm hearts and green smiles to Southern California for an e-session.  (Never mind that they happened to be down here in Los Angeles this past weekend for one of their friend’s weddings, they still win!) Audrey and Eric are great, they’re one of those couples who make you feel right at ease when you meet them.  They’re simply just too nice!  They even grow their own vegetables in a garden at their house, what’s not to like about them!  For the shoot we decided went back to Audrey’s alma mater - the zot zot campus.  For you Orange County folk, you know I’m talking about none other than the great UC Irvine!  It’s always good fun visiting this campus with it’s motley crew of unique buildings.  It was a nice afternoon of touring the campus, chatting it up and stopping for the occasional photo. Congratulations and I wish you the best!

The streets of Silverlake are not safe when Emily and Mark are around. Vacant fields of rice paddy bushes go trampled upon. Unmanned John Deere tractors get terrorized. Needless to say, these two are a blast to hang out with! The entire e-session was complete with karate chops, piggy back rides and lot & lots of laughter. I look forward to hanging out with these two more, life’s always good times when they’re around. Congratulations!
